Florida requires a registered agent with a Florida street address. Sunbiz is explicit: a post office box is not acceptable. The agent can be an individual or an entity with an active Florida filing — and an entity cannot serve as its own agent.
It is the address where the state and the courts reach your company. If a lawsuit is served and nobody receives it, the case moves without you. That is the entire reason the requirement exists, and it is why a mailbox service that forwards weekly is not the same product.
